Inspektas

A very, very old project. Seriously old. An online gallery and art shop for young artists. Inspektas - is a small greenhouse designed for growing seedlings. We, however, wanted to help young artists grow. The project was nominated for the "Pravda" awards as one of the best online projects of that year.

Concept, visual identity, branding, advertising, characters for webcomics, and the comics themselves.

Those were the days before the Facebook era, before social networks. The internet was still in its infancy. Yet, we went ahead and created an online shop for artworks—and not just any artworks, but specifically those by young artists. It was an incredibly difficult undertaking. :D

We also had a physical location—a gallery near the Vilnius Opera House. In a magnificent building. The visuals we created are timeless. Inspektas’s minimalist design would still be spot-on today. And what about the idea of using the portrait of the Mona Lisa to showcase the work of young artists? The Mona Lisa is pleased that she is so beautiful. And we tell her: "Yes, you are beautiful. But you’re old!"

For the visuals, we employed a comic-book style, created hybrid beasts and hand-drawn illustrations, and deconstructed the portrait of the Mona Lisa. We published new comics for adults, titled "Super Kalibokas," on our website every week. We played with the contrast between gray tones, vibrant colors, and the rainbow spectrum. You might be able to tell it’s an older project, but the idea remains solid. :D
